Last week was very crazy. In a sense that I went out a lot to eat (maybe too much) and I am feeling slightly guilty because I should really be doing a lot more work than what I am currently doing. Conferences are catching up to me and I haven't even started on my presentations yet. That's worrying.

Have heaps of backlog for this blog though, so then I start feeling guilty about not being more up to date. I'm about a month behind... and find myself wishing for more and more time. Then I find myself wishing time will fast forward (with myself somehow doing the work without knowing it). I actually don't know what I want anymore, maybe except all the work to be done and conferences to be over without embarrassing myself.

Oh wait, really gotta stop doing this... posting pictures and digressing about other random stuff. Let's see, last month sometime, I went to Carlingford with a few other friends for a dinner/catchup. We hardly meet up anymore, though we used to hang out every week... everyone's going their separate ways now, but it's ok because every once in a while, someone will go "let's meet up!" and we will =) Typical drink at yakiniku or hot pot? Calpis!

Anyone feeling queasy at the sight of raw meat? I know a couple of people who cannot stand the sight/smell of raw meat. I can sort of understand... apparently I was a vegetarian for a short period of time when I was small. My parents took me to the wet markets in HK when I was small once, where fish, chickens and various other animals were getting killed alive. It must have traumatised me quite a bit, because I refused to eat meat for quite some time after that. That made my parents quite worried... but frankly, I don't remember this incident at all.

I'm fine with most food now actually, was always brought up to eat everything. Shh about the parsley, that stuff triggers a gag reflex ok! It's a garnish, not meant to be eaten.

At this place (it could have been Ken's Charcoal or some other place, I cannot remember, it's just a Korean yakiniku place at Carlingford...), it's a buffet style yakiniku, so everything is placed at the front, constantly refilled, and all you have to do is grab plates of everything, take it back to your table and burn them. Lots of side dishes you can get, like fruit salad, and sushi (though you really don't want to fill yourself up with rice). Kimchi lovers, take note. Free flow of kimchi :D And FL, you know how you had to pay $5 for extra lettuce pieces? This place has UNLIMITED veggies for you to wrap burnt meat in.

This particular group of friends like to play with their food, unfortunately, haha. Looking like bangers and mash? Look closely- that stuff ain't potato mash, it's... vanilla ice cream =_= The sausage is real enough, which... actually makes things worse.
Overall, this place is really good. Service was great, because even though it's self serve, the food was constantly refilled so it's not like the good stuff were always empty trays, and they change the grill often, even without us requesting. I really like their selection of side dishes, though how could they be missing free flow miso soup? They had some other seaweed soup that was quite oily for some reason... but it's ok, you really go for the meat at yakiniku... their bulgogi was the most popular amongst my friends, though I preferred the ribs.
Dessert? Vanilla ice cream! :D They have actual metal ice cream cups inside the freezer, which you pile scoops of vanilla ice cream on yourself. One thing: they do reduced fat ice cream... It doesn't taste the same as full fat ice cream =( Cost is about $25 per person I think, which really isn't bad considering it's a buffet. I'd go back! Anyone care to join?

Good to hear the service and everything in general seems to have improved a lot since new management.
And you know it's in the calendars :)
Oh yea.. forgot about that...
Sounds good :). Is this the place you're going to take me to introduce me to Korean BBQ?
It is! Hope you enjoy it~ I didn't post very much about the different cuts of meat and all, but you'll see! :D
